Direct marketers create, purchase and sell lists for mailings, telemarketing and making sales calls. These lists are frequently called databases by list brokers. Other databases, where the primary use may or may not be for direct marketing, are maintained by companies, associations and government agencies. These databases, in addition to containing names, addresses and telephone numbers, often contain demographic, psychograhic, chronological and monetary information very valuable to direct marketers.
DMAW assists its members in selecting and using lists and databases through meetings, seminars and conferences.
