Consumer segmentation has been around for 30 years, but the current, unprecedented recession is prompting companies to reconsider this classic marketing tool. Today’s innovative companies are using new, second-generation applications of consumer segmentation not simply for market research and direct marketing, but as an enterprise-wide strategy to connect with the customer.
Please join DMAW to see how innovative companies like First Tennessee bank, the Arizona Republic newspaper and Bray & Scarff retailer are using segmentation for prospecting, cross-selling, customer service, staff re-alignment and developing strategic plans. In addition, our speaker will provide a demographic portrait of the Washington region—its consumers, its lifestyles, its neighborhoods.
Our speaker, Mike Mancini from Arlington, VA is a Vice President of Data Product Management at Nielsen Claritas—a division of The Nielsen Company that specializes in consumer demographic and segmentation data for application in customer acquisition and site evaluation. The company is best known for its PRIZM lifestyle segmentation system. Mr. Mancini is an industry veteran who began his career with Buick Motor Division in market research and product planning prior to moving to the Capital region to join Claritas Inc. when it was still a “start-up” company. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Cleveland State University and a MBA from George Washington University and has held a variety of positions in product management, sales and marketing.
